Slipping grades. Irritability. Depression. Loss of Confidence. Fatigue.

A concussion can have lasting impacts on a young person.

It's not too late to help yours recover.

Backed by 15 years of research, our customized program is tailored to each patient's needs, and can combine cognitive training, physical therapy, dietary coaching, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat the body and brain after a concussion or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).

To date, more than 10,000 clients as young as 14 with cognitive and physical conditions have been treated with the Aviv protocol.

"I just wanted to be me again."

Linden Perry had been a star athlete and an honors student when she suffered a concussion.

Unable to concentrate in school or on the field, Linden and her mother were told that they should simply accept her new normal. Instead, they turned to the Aviv Medical Program.

A groundbreaking clinical trial shows remarkable

results for teens with a concussion

The new study, carried out by the Sagol Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Research, shows that the protocol used by Aviv Clinics is a highly effective treatment for healing damaged brain tissue and relieving ongoing post-concussion symptoms.

The study found that participants in the treatment group experienced a significant increase in cognitive function. This included an improvement in their general cognitive score, improvement in memory, and executive function, following the HBOT treatment. Additional improvements included a positive change in brain structure, and an enhanced emotional score covering issues such as anxiety, depression and more.

  Frequently Asked Questions:

What are the benefits of the Aviv Medical Program?

Benefits of the program include increased energy, improved cognitive function, enhanced memory, and improved physical performance. To meet each person’s individual needs and to accurately track their progress, Aviv Clinics employs the latest in monitoring technologies throughout the duration of the program. A comprehensive report of physical and cognitive health pre- and post-treatment is delivered to each client so that you can see your child's improvement clearly.  96% of our clients experience clinically verifiable improvements in brain function after the Aviv Medical Program.

Who is a candidate for the Aviv Medical Program?

The Aviv Medical Program is intended for individuals experiencing cognitive and physical decline because of a variety of conditions. These can include post-concussion syndrome and traumatic brain injury, stroke, Lyme disease, post traumatic stress disorder, post-concussion syndrome, mild traumatic brain injury, fibromyalgia, post-COVID symptoms and age-related cognitive decline.

Has the Aviv Medical Program been tested?

The Aviv Medical Program was developed over a 12-year period by the Aviv team and Dr. Shai Efrati, Director of the Sagol Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Research, at the Shamir Medical Center in Israel. This is one of Israel’s leading medical and research centers and the world’s largest hyperbaric medicine and research facility. The Shamir Medical Center and Dr. Efrati have treated more than 10,000 children and adults and carried out over 200,000 HBOT sessions. Dr. Efrati and his team have published more than two dozen studies on the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen treatments.

 Who administers the treatments?

Treatments are administered by a multidisciplinary team of certified healthcare professionals, including physicians, neuroscientists, neuropsychologists, physical therapists, nurses, exercise physiologists, and nutrition coaches. Each client file is managed by the client’s dedicated physician and clinical team.

How long does the program take?

Enhancing cognitive and physical capabilities cannot be done overnight. Rather, it requires a cumulative and uninterrupted process to achieve maximum success. As such, the Aviv Medical Program takes time and requires strict compliance. Your child's care plan can include HBOT treatments, as well as cognitive and physical training, and nutritional coaching. HBOT sessions will take approximately two hours per day, five days a week, for 12 weeks. Up to five times a week, our clients see members of their full Aviv healthcare team for additional therapies, training, or coaching.

Are the treatments covered by insurance?

While private insurance covers hyperbaric oxygen treatment for some conditions, at the present time the Aviv Medical Program is considered an enhancement to the standard therapy and is thus an elective private treatment. This means that it is considered off-label use by the FDA and is not covered by medical insurance. Under the guidance of Dr. Shai Efrati, Chair of Aviv’s Medical Advisory Board, Aviv gathers comprehensive data on the advantages of the Aviv HBOT protocol. Our hope is that, through the published research of Dr. Efrati and other hyperbaric oxygen scientists, coverage will be expanded to include the Aviv Medical Program in the future.

 Where is Aviv Clinics located?

Aviv’s first U.S. location opened in 2020 at the Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood in central Florida, located just one hour’s drive from Orlando International Airport. A second location opened in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2021. Aviv has plans to expand to several more locations in the U.S. and worldwide over the next several years.

Can the Aviv Medical Program be completed virtually?

The program is designed to be immersive and hands-on to maximize results for each client. As such, Aviv Medical Program clients need to be treated at our clinic, where they have access to their team of certified clinicians and our state-of-the-art technology.

How does hyperbaric oxygen therapy work?

During Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), 100% oxygen is inhaled while in a room pressurized above 1.3 atmospheres absolute (ATA). As a point of reference, the air pressure in our normal environment is 1 ATA. Because of the additional atmospheric pressure, the amount of oxygen that reaches the body’s tissues and organs increases 10-15-fold compared to breathing in a normal environment. Based on more than a decade of scientific study and clinical work, Aviv has developed a novel HBOT protocol, which involves intermittent and precise fluctuations in oxygen levels to stimulate recovery in damaged brain and body tissue.

Can Aviv help with travel or accommodations?

Absolutely! Aviv’s concierge service can handle the planning and logistics of travel and daily needs for our clients during their time in central Florida. Our concierge team can arrange transportation, housing, groceries and meals, housekeeping, medical care, shopping, and even social, fitness, and religious activities.

Will my child feel claustrophobic in Aviv's HBOT suite?

If you’re asking this question, you’re probably familiar with mono-place or single HBOT chambers, which are usually a body-length tube that only accommodates a single person. At Aviv, we use large, state-of-the-art multi-patient suites which can accommodate up to 14 clients in comfortable seats along with an on-board nurse. The feel of our suites has been compared to being in a roomy first-class airline cabin. There, your child can carry out various activities, including reading, listening to music, completing tablet-led cognitive exercises, and even mild physical exercise.

What are the risks and potential side effects?

HBOT has been used safely for many years in adults and children. Potential side effects are low risk and relatively rare because of our advanced safety protocol and highly trained clinical staff.

Potential side effects may include:

- Temporary change in vision or visual acuity

- Discomfort to ears during the hyperbaric process

- In very rare cases, standard HBOT patients have experienced oxygen toxicity to the lungs or to the central nervous system.

Our specially designed protocol incorporates breaks from breathing 100% pure oxygen, to deliver enhanced HBOT while reducing the risk of adverse side effects. Because safety is paramount at Aviv, a nurse will accompany your child at each step of their treatment journey.

 Is HBOT safe for everyone?

Out of concern for our clients’ safety, there are a handful of conditions which would exclude someone from receiving HBOT treatment at Aviv Clinics. These include an untreated pneumothorax (collapsed lung), pregnancy, and active cancer. Other conditions, including medical implants and seizure disorders, will need to be assessed by our clinic physicians before determining if HBOT treatment is appropriate.
